Young Recruits Programme

If you're aged 16 to 24 and interested in starting an apprenticeships, we can help you prepare for and find a suitable role. Through our strong relationships with local employers we make sure you are placed in an environment that best suits your needs and aspirations.

Are you eligible?

You can access the Young Recruits Programme if you:

  • Are between 16 and 24 at the time of application
  • Are living and/or working in Wales
  • Are enrolled onto a level 2 or lever 3 apprenticeships with a learning provider contracted by the Welsh Government

Good To Know

You can take an apprenticeship at Intermediate, Advanced or Higher levels, depending on your existing skills, experience and aspirations. Apprenticeships are suitable for all ages and you can expect to be doing work-based learning with an employer and get paid. Your apprenticeship will include a National Vocational Qualification, Functional Skills and a knowledge-based element or technical certificate.

Training and Support

Training will take place in the workplace and will be delivered by your employer and tutor/assessor. Your knowledge and competency assessment throughout the apprenticeship will be carried out through observations, regular reports and plans, team testimony, physical products of your work, online assessment, correspondence and discussion.

Pay

If you’re aged 16-18 you can expect to be paid the standard apprenticeship wage, currently £2.73 an hour. If you are 19 and over and have completed your first year you will be paid at least the minimum wage rate for your age.
